Manhard Consulting was retained by ARCON Associates, Inc. to design improvements to the Stratford School parking lot for the Bloomingdale Community Consolidated School District 93.  Manhard worked with the school district to expand and reconstruct crumbling parking facilities during a two- phase construction process.  The project was completed within the school’s summer break, which eliminated the need to disrupt classes.

The project added ±23,000 square feet of new parking and drive aisles and reconstructed ±64,000 square feet of existing pavement.  Manhard utilized a permeable paver parking lot design to meet the operational needs of the School District.  The design provided storage of stormwater runoff within the stone bas beneath the pavers, which releases to the local sewer using a perforated underdrain system.  Striping and signage within the parking lot was modified to create designated bus lanes that increased the school’s operational efficiency.

Manhard services for this project included survey, final engineering design for parking and new school entrance canopy, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency permitting, Village permitting, and NPDES permit monitoring.
