The Wheaton Property Partners development is located on 1.7 acres at the corner of Liberty Drive and Cross Street in downtown Wheaton. This development was a joint venture between the City of Wheaton and a private developer, Wheaton Property Partners. The developer will maintain ownership of the 156,000 square foot-5 story building. The first floor of the building is dedicated to retail use, while the remaining floors provide office space. The City of Wheaton will own and operate the 4 story-146,000 square foot parking garage that provides public parking as well as parking for the office building. Significant improvements along Liberty Drive to create additional public parking were also included.
Services provided for this project include surveying, site investigation, engineering design and plan preparation, stormwater management design and reporting, roadway improvement design, construction assistance, permitting assistance and agency coordination with the City of Wheaton and DuPage County, and environmental consulting. Contaminated soils on-site created unique design challenges for the required stormwater management improvements as well as the underground utility layout. Manhard Consulting, Ltd. was able to work with the City of Wheaton and DuPage County to provide an efficient engineering solution to satisfy all requirements.
